CEGP 69th National Student Press Convention

The CEGP National Student Press Convention (NSPC) is the annual national education festival of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines. It is the 69th year of holding such activity which aims to hone the talents of budding writers and artists.

The CEGP-NSPC is the annual national education festival of the organization. It offers basic, intermediate and advanced courses of journalism and arts. It also caters socio-political education.

Last year, the NSPC was successfully held at Camp Alano in Toril, Davao City. It gathered more than 180 campus press from different provinces of the three major islands of the country.

In this event, the annual search for the country’s top tertiary student publication will also be staged. The contest comes in three major categories: best in tabloid, magazine, and broad sheet. It also awards the best publications in Literary Folio, Alternative Form, and Website as minor categories. The contest is best known as Gawad Ernesto Rodriguez Jr., named after CEGP alumnus Ernesto Rodriguez Jr. of the Philippine Collegian.

As one of the oldest existing youth organizations in the country, CEGP also recognizes its top alumnus/alumna by giving the highest citation known as Gawad Marcelo H. del Pilar. Among the recipients of this award are Elmer Ordoñez, Isagani Yambot, Rep. Satur Ocampo, Prof. Jose Ma. Sison, Beng Hernandez, Dean Armando Malay, Joe Burgoz, Professor Judy Taguiwalo, Gelacio Guillermo and many other alumni who have contributed their talents and skills in the making of Philippine history.

In sixty-nine years of performing this noble activity, this gathering upholds the basic principles of the CEGP which is to educate its members to practice the standards of journalism and to determine the content of student publications.

The participants will be taught about the newest trend in journalism by respected media practitioners and known journalists in the country. Socio-political education will also be discussed by social scientists to ensure awareness among the members of the press on the recent burning issues. Both will be given on simultaneous classroom discussions.

Fora and symposia will also be conducted to deliver the most recent situation of the country and Philippine culture. The most frequent forum being catered by the Guild is the campus and mainstream press situation, its main focus of attention on campaign being the national center for the advancement of campus press freedom.

At dahil sa bayan namin ito, sasama ako! Sama ka na!

Sari-saring kawirduhan

1. Takot na takot ako sa mga aso. Maging tuta man o malaking aso. Basta takot ako sa ASO.

Tingin ka muna sa akin. Hehe.

2. Mahilig ako sa maaasim na pagkain. Pinapapak ko ang paasim sa sampalok powder   mix. Totoo!

3. Grade 3 ako noong nagsimula akong kumuha ng mga litrato.

4. Alam mo yung larong Harvest Moon sa Gameboy? Adik na adik ako dun.

5. Mahilig ako sa pagkaing lansangan katulad ng isaw at dugo.

6. Hinog na papaya lang ang hindi ko kinakain na prutas.

7. Lactose intolerant ako. Naje-jebs na ako kapag nakalunok ako n’yan.

8. Hyperacidic din ako. Maraming kumplikasyon ang tiyan ko.

9. Hindi ako umiinom ng softdrinks.

10. Nawiwili ako sa Gmail.

11. Miyembro ako dati Rondalla Club noong hayskul ako. Octavina at gitara ang hawak ko noon.

12. Tumutugtog ako ng gitara, kaunting piano, at biyulin. Totoo!

13. Mahilig akong maglakad.

14. Gusto ko ng alagang sisiw. Kapag lumaki na, ayoko na.

28. Nagsusulat din ako ng katatawanang tula.

29. Nagiipon ako ng mga tissue paper noong nasa elementarya ako.

30. Miyembro din ako ng isang banda noong nasa hayskul ako. Bass ang hawak ko noon at Typecast ang tugtugan namin. *raaaaaaawr*
